Optometry

Optometry services in Plymouth are improving.  We need your views on your treatment as an NHS patient using High Street opticians.

Plymouth Community Healthcare update

Plymouth Community Healthcare have announced a redesign in services for Older People's Mental Health Srvices (OPMH).  Two wards at Plympton Hospital which deal with acute assessment and treatment srvices for people with a dementia or functional illness are moving to the Mount Gould site.  This is seen as a 'significant improvement in patient care with greater access to medical cover and the resources of the Local Care Centre', as all their services will be on a single site for the first time.

If you, or someone you know or care for, will be affected by this, please let us know.  YOUR VIEWS COUNT!

HealthWatch - we need your views

By now you will all know that LINk is to become a new organisation called HealthWatch.  HealthWatch will carry on the work of LINk and provide information and advice and also support people to make choices.

We have been talking to local groups, organisations and members of the public about their views on HealthWatch - what would you like it to look like and how can it provide information, advice and support to people in the city and represent their views?

We held our two HealthWatch events aimed at organisations, which were a big success.  Click here to see the presentation at the events.

We also talked to local people about their views at our Healthy Plymouth event, Older People’s Day, the Respect Festival and other community events and included a short survey in our last newsletter - please take a few minutes to fill it in and send it back to us.  Your answers will help us to shape your local HealthWatch and inform Plymouth City Council on what’s important to you.

Plymouth LINk Pathfinder

Plymouth LINk has been chosen to be a HealthWatch Pathfinder, to focus on the HealthWatch role on the new Health & Wellbeing Board.  Work has begun to think about how HealthWatch can best represent everyone’s views and Plymouth LINk has a representative on a new Health & Wellbeing development group in preparation for the board.

stars and success

Plymouth City Council has recognised Plymouth LINk in its plans to develop adult social care in the city.  LINk feedback contributed to the plan and we are commenting on the plan to ensure that HealthWatch is recognised.

Plymouth LINk is now working with all health and social care commissioners and providers around the table at regular meetings to share local views and make city-wide improvements to services.

Plymouth LINk has influenced a number of improvements and reviews of primary care services.  Eleven different areas will be improved or reviewed following recommendations from Plymouth LINk.

Wealso had the highest attendance at specialised commissioning consultation events in the SouthWest (i.e. we fed into service changes more than other LINks).
