Roles and responsibilities of the Stewardship Group

Chris Boote, Stewardship Group Chair  Chair of the Stewardship Group, Chris Boote

In 2008 an act of Parliament required the establishment of LINk organisations within each local authority in the UK The LINk has enforcement powers to bring about improvements in health and social care provision.

The City of Plymouth LINK consists of volunteers supported by a small dedicated support team.

The LINk stewardship group was formed in January 2009 and I was privileged to have been elected as the first chairperson in February 2009.

I have lived in Plymouth for all of my life and over the years have undertaken a variety of voluntary activities within the community.  Until 2006 I was employed by a large UK company where I had a passion and an overwhelming desire to ensure that my customers considered every contact to be an excellent experience.

During every journey we make within the health and social care environment, each and every one of us should experience excellent customer / patient service.  Health and Social Care staff work extremely hard to deliver an excellent service; however from our own personal situations we are aware that, within large complex services and organisations, service delivery or customer care does not always meet our expectations.

I am now focusing my drive, enthusiasm, and commitment by working in partnership with:

• LINk members
• The professional support team
• The providers of Health & Social Care in the City

to bring about the improvements and celebrate the many instances of excellent care/service that you highlight to the LINk.

If you have recently experienced Health or Social care provision, we would like to hear from you about your experience. The LINk, in partnership with the providers of Health and Social Care, will:

• Celebrate excellent practices and customer care
• Bring about improvement in the areas and situations that you highlight.

Yes we can!
Yes we will!
